Gaia arrived in New York City in 2010 and never quite left — spending a decade building a career as an actress, model, host, facilitator, and producer across the city’s stages and screens. She now works between Slovenia, New York, and the broader European and Balkan region, carrying that NYC energy into every project she touches.

PERFORMED monodrama “MADAM JUDIT” in english in collaboration with slovenian eMbassies abroad – at SKICA in berlin, at the Consulate General of the RS in Cleveland, OH-USA) and EmbassY OF THE RS in Washington, DC-USA). Performing in JNANA THEATRE production Draigvala.
2025
PERFORMED AT THE GRAND OPENING CEREMONY OF EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE GO2025! on february 8th, the slovenian day of culture, just before heading to Vienna to film a role playing video game for EU PARLIAMENT. IN MAY, she opened a new play “HANNAH ARENDT: THE (IN)HUMAN CONDITION” at MINI TEATER in ljubljana. PERFORMED monodrama “MADAM JUDIT” in english in collaboration with eMbassy OF THE RS in Seoul, South Korea.
2024
PERFORMED IN AN ONLINE SHORT PLAYS SERIES WITH TBTB IN NYC, FILMED A COMMERCIAL FOR A MAJOR SLOVENIAN GROCERY STORE CHAIN SPAR, OPENED An INTERNATIONAL CO-PRODUCTIOn between SNG MARIBOR (SLOVENIA), ZKM (CROATIA) AND BELGRADE DRAMA THEATRE (SERBIa) – “THE END OF THE WORLD IN THREE ACTS“, AS well as a monodrama “MADAM JUDIT” in slovenian and english version at the SKUC THEATRE. At the end of the year, the series “LIBERA” (RAI 1, IT) and her part in series “JA, CHEF!” (POP TV, SI) were released oN TV.
2023
FILMED A COMMERCIAL FOR McDONALDS, OPENED A PLAY “SOAP OPERA” AT GLEJ THEATRE IN LJUBLJANA, HAD a guest role in an ITALIAN Series “LIBERA”, directed by Gianluca mazzelLa and a suporting role in DARKO STANTE’s FILM “IZGUBLJENI SIN” (THE LOST SON).
2022
OPENED PLAYS “BITE THE APPLE” AT RATTLESTICK THEATRE AND “NOTHING IS PLENTY FOR ME” AT THEATRE ROW in NEW YORK CITY. SHE HAD A GUEST ROLE IN A MAJOR SLOVENIAN TV SERIES “JA, CHEF!“
2021
OPENED “THE DOLL’S HOUSE, PART 2” AT THE LIVING ROOM THEATRE IN VERMONT AND “EDEN” AT TRANSFORMA THEATRE COMPANY IN NEW YORK CITY.
2020
returned back to New York City from the European run of UK BASED Outer Gaea Company’s (NOW KHAOS EUROPE) international adaptation of Antigone, playing the titular role.

Acting Training
In USA, Gaia graduated from Circle in the Square Theatre School and studied at The Acting Studio, HB Studio, NYFA, TBG and Actors Studio. Previous training: Actors Studio Slovenia and many international workshops.

University Education
She earned her MA in Psychology at the Ljubljana University’s Faculty of Arts with an international research of Slovenian and USA actors and acting styles as well as different historical approaches to acting across cultures.

Teaching Artistry
As a member of Taka Tuka Theatre in Education Company, she has been working as a global teaching artist, collaborating with artists from UK, Mexico, China, Thailand, Africa, Greece, and many EU countries.

Credentials
Her performance as Claire in THE MAIDS earned her a 2019 NYITA Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Leading Role. She is a member of FIA (European Federation of Actors) and EWA (European Women’s AV Network).
ACTING CAREER
Coming from a Slovenian acting family, Gaia was on stage before even born (in the tummy of her mother, playing the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, alongside her dad in the titular role) and grew up as a theatre kid.
While studying Psychology at the Faculty of Arts (University of Ljubljana), she trained at the Actors Studio Slovenia, Ljubljana Dance Theatre, JSKD, and worked at various theatres, such as Sentjakobsko Theatre, KUD France Preseren, Glej Theatre and SiTi Theatre.
Psychology and acting, combined with her passion for traveling, brought her to collaboration with Taka Tuka Theatre in Education Company. Her Theatre and Drama in Education focused work has been very international. She collaborated with organisations like Estudia Busqueda de Pantomima Teatro in Mexico, Moradokmai Theatre Community in Thailand, and Die Gorillas Improvisational Theatre in Germany.
She first came to New York in 2010 to take acting classes and fell in love with the city. She trained at The Acting Studio, Inc., HB Studio and The Barrow Group. Her passion for acting in New York City not being a seasonal breeze, she moved to the city in 2015 and graduated from Circle in the Square Theatre School‘s professional conservatory in 2017.
After graduation, she has been involved with multiple New York and regional theatre and film productions. She collaborated with New York New Works Theatre Festival, HB Studio Playwrights Theater, The Actors Studio, Living Room Theatre, The Seeing Place Theater, Theatre Breaking Through Barriers, and others.
Since the pandemic, she is also working in Slovenia and surrounding countries. She has appeared in an Italian series Libera, Slovenian series “Ja, Chef” and “Telenovela”, filmed “Izgubljeni Sin – The Lost Son” film with Darko Stante, did a commercial for McDonalds Slovenia. Her latest theatre productions include Glej Theatre‘s production “Soap Opera” , “The End of the World in Three Acts”, a co-production between SNG Maribor, the Belgrade Drama Theatre and Zagreb Youth Theatre., a bi-lingual (Slovenian and English) monodrama “Madam Judit” and Mini Teater‘s production “Hannah Arendt: (in) human condition“.
